Volleyball Recap: Lawrence Free State Comes Up Short

Lawrence Free State lost against Hayden back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Firebirds took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The Firebirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Lawrence Free State was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-23.

Their offense was headlined by Meredith Claassen-Wilson and Kennedy Flachsbarth, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from Tesssa Nover-Estes and her 19 assists.

Lawrence Free State's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Hayden, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-7 record this season.

Lawrence Free State didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against West on the 11th. As for Hayden, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Gardner-Edgerton on the 11th.
