Baseball Recap: Wiley Comes Up Short

If Wiley was feeling good fresh off their 12-4 takedown of Cheyenne Wells last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers fell just short of the Holly Wildcats by a score of 8-7 on Monday. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Devonte Pizarro was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Dixie Bitner also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Wiley's loss dropped their record down to 9-9-1. As for Holly, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-9 record this season.

Wiley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Holly, they will challenge Springfield at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
