Baseball Recap: Mountain View Find Success

Fremont typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Mountain View proved too difficult a challenge. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Firebirds 3-1. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Firebirds recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Brennan Dooley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mountain View is 8-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-10 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kyle Shachal, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Orrock, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Mountain View's win bumped their record up to 16-11. As for Fremont, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 20-7.

As of now, neither Mountain View nor the Firebirds have any future games scheduled.
