Baseball Recap: Milford Victorious

Milford won the last time they faced Oakwood and things went their way on Thursday too. The Bearcats won by a run and slipped past the Comets 11-10. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bearcats.

Caleb Clutteur made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Milford: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 12-14 otherwise.

In other batting news, Beau Wright and Aiden Frerichs did most of the damage at the plate: Wright went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Frerichs went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Wright has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Vogel, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Milford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory got Milford back to even at 15-15. As for Oakwood, they dropped their record down to 16-14 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Milford will host St. Thomas More at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bearcats are facing the Sabers at the right time seeing as the Sabers are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Oakwood, they will be playing at home against Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
