Soccer Game Preview: Holdrege vs. Lakeview

The Holdrege Dusters are taking a road trip to face off against the Lakeview Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Holdrege saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 4-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kearney Catholic. That's two games in a row now that Holdrege have lost by exactly two goals.

Joshua Janssen and Joshua Wilbur scored both of Holdrege's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Meanwhile, Lakeview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Beatrice. The matchup was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Lakeview couldn't quite close it out.

Lakeview's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Holdrege, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Holdrege beat Lakeview 3-1 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dusters since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
