Recap: Northridge Vikings vs. Granville Christian Academy
The Northridge Vikings scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 53-20 win over Granville Christian Academy. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Northridge has managed all season.
Leading Northridge to victory were Ruby Cermak and Ava Travis. Cermak dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, while Travis scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The contest was Travis' ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Comisford, who scored four points along with three steals and three blocks.
When it comes to explaining why Granville Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ella Rhoads. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points along with five rebounds and five blocks. Rhoads is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Granville Christian Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Northridge racked up 13 assists.
The victory makes it two in a row for Northridge and bumps their season record up to 4-5. As for Granville Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northridge will be home for the holidays to greet Danville at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Granville Christian Academy, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Gilead Christian at 7:00 p.m. on December 21st.
