Baseball Game Preview: Wake County HomeSchool Warriors vs. Topsail Pirates

The Wake County HomeSchool Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Topsail Pirates at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wake County HomeSchool's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Topsail's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Friday, Wake County HomeSchool didn't have quite enough to beat Ashley and fell 2-1.

Carter Firebaugh was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Wake County HomeSchool saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Martin, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Topsail came up short against Corinth Holders on Friday and fell 8-5. Topsail has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Topsail suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 3-2. As for Wake County HomeSchool, their record is now 2-2.
