Softball Recap: Jackson County Has No Trouble Against Pickett County

After losing to Pickett County the last time they met, Jackson County decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Bobcats on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

Madison Donovan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only two earned runs over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makynzee Schneider, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Lily Holloway was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Jackson County's win bumped their record up to 3-13. As for Pickett County, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Looking ahead, Jackson County will square off against Cumberland County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.3 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. Pickett County has already played their next matchup (against Monterey), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
