Baseball Recap: Union Grove Drops Season-High Score on Beloit Memorial

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Union Grove). They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Beloit Memorial Purple Knights on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Purple Knights: they've now won three in a row.

Evan Northup looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Matthew Gruber was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Katterhagen, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Union Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Union Grove back to even at 10-10. As for Beloit Memorial, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Coming up, Union Grove will square off against Elkhorn at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Beloit Memorial, they will face off against Pecatonica at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
