Baseball Recap: Carteret Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

There's no place like home for Carteret, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They had just enough and edged out the J.P. Stevens Hawks 5-3. This was a revenge game for the Ramblers: when they faced off against the Hawks last Monday, they had to take a 3-2 loss.

Lucas Rivera made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Rivera was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Rivera wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nick Kee, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Carteret pushed their record up to 1-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for J.P. Stevens, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Carteret will face off against North Plainfield at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for J.P. Stevens, they will welcome Linden at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
