Football Recap: Ishan Devarapalli's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mountain View over San Mateo

Mountain View lost against San Mateo back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Spartans took a hard 35-21 fall against the Bearcats.

Mountain View lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ishan Devarapalli, who rushed for 74 yards and one score on only ten carries, and also threw for 189 yards on 12 of 19 attempts. 116 of Devarapalli's passing yards were hauled in by Micah Perkins.

San Mateo's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jovani Hernandez Cruz, who rushed for 124 yards and a pair of TDs. That's the most rushing yards Hernandez Cruz has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lukas Fitzgerald, who rushed for 126 yards and one touchdown.

Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for San Mateo, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Mountain View has already played their next matchup, a 35-28 defeat against Capuchino on the 17th. As for San Mateo, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 28-14 loss against King's Academy on the 16th.
