Football Recap: Mountain View Comes Up Short

Mountain View lost against San Mateo back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The matchup between the Spartans and the Bearcats didn't end well, with the Spartans falling 35-21.

San Mateo's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jovani Hernandez Cruz, who rushed for 124 yards and a pair of scores. That's the most rushing yards Hernandez Cruz has posted since back in September of 2024. Lukas Fitzgerald also helped out as he racked up 126 rushing yards.

Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for San Mateo, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain View will face off against Capuchino at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. The Spartans are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for San Mateo, they will square off against King's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bearcats' defense better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 34 points per game this season.
