Softball Recap: Kearny Comes Up Short

Kearny managed to slip by La Jolla the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Komets came up short against the Vikings on Friday, falling 18-7. The Komets' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Kearny saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was S. Verastigue, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one double.

Kearny's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for La Jolla, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season.

Kearny will take on Hoover at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.78 runs per game on average), something the Komets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for La Jolla, they have already played their next matchup, a 13-4 win against High Tech SD on the 7th.
