Softball Recap: Mills Has No Trouble Against Sequoia

After losing to Sequoia the last time they met, Mills decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Mills was the clear victor by a 13-3 margin over Sequoia on Friday. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

Kalia Woo spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sofia Kwan was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Penas, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Mills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sequoia only posted a batting average of .261.

Mills is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. Sequoia's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mills will take on rival Half Moon Bay at 4:00 p.m. on April 9. Meanwhile, Sequoia is set to challenge their familiar foe Notre Dame at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
