Basketball Game Preview: Pineview Christian Warriors vs. Evangel Christian Lightning

The Pineview Christian Warriors will head out to take on the Evangel Christian Lightning at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Pineview Christian took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat First Assembly Christian 85-16. The Warriors' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Evangel Christian entered their tilt with Wiregrass on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Kings 80-38. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-16.

Evangel Christian's win came from a few key players Pineview Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jonathan Gill, who posted 14 points and seven boards. That's the most points he has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Bugnar, who earned eight points along with five assists and five steals.

Evangel Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Evangel Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Pineview Christian, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.

Pineview Christian came up short against Evangel Christian in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 62-55. Can Pineview Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
