Softball Recap: Canyon Comes Up Short

Canyon dropped their record down to 19-9 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Esperanza Aztecs by a score of 3-2. Surprisingly, this marked the Comanches' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

As for Esperanza, the victory snapped their losing streak at 13 games and leaves them with a 7-21 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 1st.

For Esperanza's part, Charley Duran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. Duran has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Esperanza's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Korte, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

As of now, neither Canyon nor the Aztecs have any future games scheduled.
