Softball Recap: Maroa-Forsyth Trojans vs. Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Maroa-Forsyth ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals 5-4. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Maroa-Forsyth also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

Danni Hovey made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over nine innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Hovey has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive pitching appearances. Hovey was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double.

In other batting news, Maggie Ravenscraft was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

Maroa-Forsyth's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Warrensburg-Latham, their loss dropped their record down to 17-9.

Maroa-Forsyth will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Tri-Valley at 10:00 a.m. Tri-Valley is coming into the contest with four straight wins on the road, so Maroa-Forsyth will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Warrensburg-Latham, they will square off against Arthur-Okaw Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
