Baseball Recap: Great Bend Triumphs

While Great Bend's win against Pratt wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Greenbacks 7-5. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Greenbacks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Koehn Ribordy made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI.

In other batting news, Carson Umphres was incredible, scoring a run and stealing five bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Ian Premer was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Great Bend's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Pratt, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Great Bend will head out to take on Dodge City at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Pratt, they will square off against Hoisington at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
