Preview: Albuquerque Bulldogs vs. Capital Jaguars
Albuquerque is 10-0 against Capital since February of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Albuquerque Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Capital Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Albuquerque has ten straight victories, Capital has ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Albuquerque can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They really took it to Santa Fe for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-21 victory on the road. With Albuquerque ahead 29-9 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Albuquerque found their leader in underclassman Zaiyah Hawley, who scored 15 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hawley has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaelynn Ashley, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Capital was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 54-50 to Manzano. Capital has not had much luck with Manzano recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Albuquerque is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Capital, they dropped their record down to 3-18 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.
Everything went Albuquerque's way against Capital in their previous matchup back in January as Albuquerque made off with a 46-25 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Capital's Leslie Gutierrez Chavez, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
