Softball Recap: West Greene Finds Home Field Redemption Against Waynesburg Central

There's no place like home for West Greene, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Waynesburg Central Raiders on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pioneers also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Payton Gilbert made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Gilbert was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kendra Tharp was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Marissa Tharp was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs.

West Greene's victory bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Waynesburg Central, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7.

As of now, neither West Greene nor the Raiders have any future games scheduled.
