Volleyball Recap: St. John XXIII Falls Despite Big Games from Layla Bohall and Reagan Butler

If St. John XXIII was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Village on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lions fell 3-1 to the Concordia Lutheran Crusaders on Thursday. The Lions have struggled against the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

The final score came out to 25-21, 25-18, 23-25, 25-15.

St. John XXIII's loss came despite strong showings from Reagan Butler and Layla Bohall. Butler had nine digs and two aces, while Bohall had ten assists and six digs.

St. John XXIII's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 12-17. As for Concordia Lutheran, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-16.

St. John XXIII and Concordia Lutheran should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Lions will square off against Incarnate Word Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (402 vs. 895). Meanwhile, Concordia Lutheran (ranked 315th) will meet St. Agnes Academy (ranked 732nd) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
