Basketball Game Preview: Big Lake Hornets vs. North Branch Vikings

Big Lake and North Branch are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Big Lake Hornets will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against the North Branch Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Big Lake is looking for their season's first win.

On January 10th, Big Lake was beaten by Monticello 68-27. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 309th, while the Magic are ranked tenth).

Meanwhile, North Branch was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 54-49 to St. Francis. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Big Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for North Branch, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

Big Lake came up short against North Branch in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 60-50. Can Big Lake avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
