Basketball Recap: Rockmart Comes Up Short

Rockmart fought the good fight in their overtime match against Sonoraville on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 66-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sonoraville Phoenix. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-51 back in January.

Rockmart's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-19. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Sonoraville, they moved to 9-14 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rockmart has already played their next game (against Murray County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sonoraville will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Ringgold at 7:30 p.m.
