Softball Recap: Los Banos Triumphs

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Los Banos had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 win over the Ceres Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted against the Bulldogs since March 30, 2022.

Mya Arista spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Gracie Orozco was incredible, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shayla Hernandez, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

The win made it two in a row for Los Banos and bumps their season record up to 11-14. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Ceres, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-10.

Looking ahead, Los Banos will take on Placer at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hillmen have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season. Ceres does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
