Baseball Recap: Chenango Valley Triumphs

Chenango Valley's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Windsor Central Black Knights 5-3. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Black Knights: they've now won three in a row.

Johnny Paske spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Chenango Valley is 5-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Chenango Valley let Shea McKeon and Cole Trebilcock run wild. McKeon went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Trebilcock got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Trebilcock is becoming a predictor of Chenango Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 4-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was DJ Steen, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Chenango Valley's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Windsor Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

Coming up, Chenango Valley will head out to challenge Johnson City at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Windsor Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
