Volleyball Recap: Wiregrass Ranch Bulls vs. Mitchell Mustangs
After flying high against Pasco on Tuesday, Wiregrass Ranch came back down to earth. The Bulls took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mitchell Mustangs on Wednesday. The Bulls were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
Wiregrass Ranch started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-22, 25-18, 25-20.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mitchell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lily Unger, who had 15 digs and three assists. Unger has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last seven times she's played. Maddie Bruno was another key player, getting 12 digs and two aces.
Wiregrass Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Mitchell, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Looking ahead, Wiregrass Ranch will be taking part in a tournament against St. Petersburg Catholic at 5:45 p.m. on the 5th. As for Mitchell, they have already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Anclote on the 28th.
