The Brunswick Academy Vikings will head out to square off against the Southampton Academy Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Brunswick Academy saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Fuqua with a sharp 13-3 victory. With that win, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Maddox Sasser was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sasser was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Nathan Talbert was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Nathan Wells was another key player, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Brunswick Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fuqua only posted an OBP of .393.
Meanwhile, Southampton Academy won against Halifax Academy on Friday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over Tidewater Academy. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by ten runs or more this season.
David Brantley looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Southampton Academy got a massive performance out of Landon Cushing, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Cushing is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ethan Webb, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Southampton Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Brunswick Academy, their record now sits at 11-6.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Brunswick Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. However, it's not like Southampton Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
