Softball Recap: Marcellus Takes a Loss

Skaneateles hit Marcellus with a six-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs fell just short of the Lakers by a score of 10-9. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lakers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Mia Colon and Mariah Kolm did some serious damage despite the final result: Colon went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Kolm got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Maddy Richer, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Marcellus has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. As for Skaneateles, the victory snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 2-8 record.

Marcellus does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Skaneateles, they will take on Bishop Ludden at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
