Baseball Recap: Layton Comes Up Short

Layton dropped their record down to 6-10 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 15-5 to the Davis Darts. If the Lancers were looking for revenge after losing 30-4 to the Darts when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Will Hoffman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Andres Cedeno also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Davis, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.43 runs across that stretch.

On Davis' side, Croydon Christensen looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Christensen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Owen Talbot, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Stryder Prowse, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and two RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Layton beat Davis by a score of 4-1 on Wednesday.
