Gaylord faced Portage Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 11-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Nora Bethuy was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Piper Wagner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

The victory (which was Gaylord's sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Portage Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-6.

Gaylord didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-3 loss against Gladstone on the 17th. As for Portage Central, they will head out to square off against Portage Northern at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
