Suggested Video

Oldham County had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 10-13-1 to make it five. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Xavier Tigers. If the Colonels were looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to the Tigers when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for St. Xavier, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 23-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

For St. Xavier's part, Colton Zuege tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over six innings pitched. Zuege has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, St. Xavier's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kaden Ford, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Ford a new career-high. Cameron Marks also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Coming up, Oldham County will welcome Fern Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Xavier, they will square off against South Oldham at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Dragons will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
