Liberty is 1-9 against Shady Spring since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Liberty is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Liberty will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against WestSide on Wednesday. The Raiders were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Renegades. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Renegades: they've now won six in a row.
Maddie Cox made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Liberty let Alyssa Scarbro and Katie Mullens run wild. Scarbro scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Mullens scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs Mullens has posted since back in March of 2024. Emma Hartshorn was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Shady Spring was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 11-1 to Steele. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Tigers have suffered since April 13, 2024.
Shady Spring saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jenna Joyce, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Liberty now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Shady Spring, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Liberty's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. The Raiders have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Shady Spring, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Liberty continue to outrun the ball?
