Recap: Calera Eagles vs. Chilton County Tigers
The Calera Eagles lost against the Chilton County Tigers last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Calera took a 63-44 bruising from Chilton County. Calera has struggled against Chilton County recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Iasia Anderson was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 16 points, 12 assists, and nine steals for Chilton County. Anderson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ivyonna Varner, who scored 17 points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
Calera has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season. As for Chilton County, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 17-8.
Calera will head out on the road to take on Benjamin Russell at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chilton County, they will be playing at home against Marbury at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Marbury is ranked 130th, while Chilton County is ranked 121st).
