Baseball Recap: Clover Garden School Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Clover Garden School can now relate to. They fell just short of the Pamlico County Hurricanes by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday.

Brayden DeAlto put in work no matter where he played. He tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run. He is becoming a predictor of Clover Garden School's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 4-1 (and 6-11 when he doesn't).

DeAlto wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dean Thacker, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Clover Garden School's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Pamlico County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Clover Garden School nor Pamlico County have any future games scheduled.
