Softball Recap: Academy of Notre Dame Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Academy of Notre Dame, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They put the hurt on the Lynn Vo-Tech Tigers with a sharp 16-1 win on Tuesday. Considering the Lancers have won six contests by more than 13 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Carina Clark made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacqui Martineau, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. Gigi Perna was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Academy of Notre Dame was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Academy of Notre Dame's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Lynn Vo-Tech, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Academy of Notre Dame will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
