Baseball Recap: San Fernando Has No Trouble Against North Hollywood

While San Fernando put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for North Hollywood. San Fernando put the hurt on North Hollywood with a sharp 10-0 victory. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.

The result came thanks to Alex Torres's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because San Fernando is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 2-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Marcos Serrano, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Emiliano Salazar was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

San Fernando hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Hollywood struck out eight times.

San Fernando is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. North Hollywood's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

San Fernando and North Hollywood could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. San Fernando (ranked 396th) will meet Pacifica (ranked 174th) at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, North Hollywood will face off against Sylmar at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday down 788 places (1008 vs. 220).
