Football Recap: Webster Comes Up Short at Home Against Nathan Hale

Webster unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Nathan Hale Rangers and fell 55-14. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Rangers: they've now lost four in a row.

Webster's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lonnie Bowler, who rushed for 124 yards and one TD on only 14 carries. An impressive showing, but Bowler really ramped things up playing D: he picked up a sack and made ten total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Jordan Deroin was a one-man wrecking crew For Nathan Hale. as he rushed for 77 yards and three scores on only eight carries, and also threw for 96 yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Cameron Turner, who rushed for 150 yards and one TD on only 15 carries.

Webster will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on McLain Science & Tech at 7:00 p.m. on the 11th. As for Nathan Hale, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 23-6 win against East Central on the 4th.
