Baseball Game Preview: Rensselaer Central Bombers vs. West Lafayette Red Devils

For the second straight game, Rensselaer Central will face off against West Lafayette. The Bombers will face off against the Red Devils at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Rensselaer Central has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 14.

Rensselaer Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against West Lafayette on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 2-1.

For West Lafayette's part, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Werth, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one double. Another was LJ Whitford, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

West Lafayette has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Rensselaer Central, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
