Softball Recap: Thornton Fractional South Takes a Loss

Thornton Fractional South had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-21 to make it six. They lost 14-0 to the Tinley Park Titans. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, the Red Wolves' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Tinley Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games.

For Tinley Park's part, Emily Korduplewski made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Korduplewski has posted over her last 11 matches. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.

In other batting news, Sarah Aggen was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Megan Piotrowski, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thornton Fractional South will challenge Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tinley Park, they will be playing at home against Evergreen Park at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
