Basketball Recap: Ashley Takes a Loss

The Ashley Screaming Eagle were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 43-39 to the Northside - Jacksonville Monarchs. While the Screaming Eagle didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Monarchs 11-5 in the first quarter.

Northside - Jacksonville was led to victory by Joaliel Caraballo and Peyton Mayhew. Caraballo shot 50% from the field en route to 16 points along with eight steals and six boards, while Mayhew posted 20 points and four steals. Caraballo has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 16 times he's played. Justin Tourigny was another key player, going 5-for-8 on his way to 10 points and seven rebounds.

Ashley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-2.

Ashley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Swansboro at 8:00 p.m. on December 5. As for Northside - Jacksonville, they will face off against White Oak at 7:00 p.m. on December 5.
