Basketball Recap: James Kenan Tigers vs. Clinton Dark Horses

The James Kenan Tigers can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 38-37 victory over Clinton. The victory was just what James Kenan needed coming off of a 57-28 defeat in their prior match.

James Kenan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aleyah Wilson, who scored 16 points along with four steals. It was the first time this season that Wilson scored 15 or more points. Lillie Kornegay was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 15 rebounds and three steals.

Clinton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Janiya Mosley, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Williford, who scored eight points along with four blocks and two steals.

James Kenan's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Clinton, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5.

James Kenan will take on the Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully South Lenoir focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. As for Clinton, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Golden Tornadoes at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Fairmont is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
