Softball Game Preview: Cherokee Chiefs vs. Eastern Vikings

Cherokee has gone 9-1 against Eastern recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Chiefs will be playing at home against the Vikings at 3:45 p.m. Cherokee's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Eastern's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Thursday, Cherokee needed a bit of extra time to put away Cherry Hill West. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Lions. The win continues a trend for the Chiefs in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won six in a row.

Cali Taylor spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 18 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Luci Dandrea was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Eastern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Egg Harbor Township.

Cherokee's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.

Everything went Cherokee's way against Eastern in their previous matchup back in April, as Cherokee made off with a 14-0 win. Do the Chiefs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
