Basketball Recap: Madonna Takes a Loss

Madonna lost against Catholic Central on January 4th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Madonna Blue Dons took a 45-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Catholic Central Crusaders. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Blue Dons came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 99th in West Virginia, while the Crusaders are ranked 471st in Ohio).

Madonna's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Catholic Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madonna will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Weir at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th. As for Catholic Central, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Oak Glen at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
