Baseball Recap: Enterprise Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Enterprise, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Sacred Heart Crusaders on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won three in a row.

Kelly Burgess spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February of 2024.

On the hitting side, Haygan Floyd was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Enterprise is undefeated when Floyd posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jiles Williams, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Enterprise pushed their record up to 6-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.8 runs. As for Sacred Heart, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

Enterprise will have a chance to go back-to-back against Sacred Heart: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
