Basketball Recap: Rio Hondo Prep Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Rio Hondo Prep won the last time they faced Duarte and things went their way on Saturday too. The Rio Hondo Prep Kares blew past the Duarte Falcons 69-48. The Kares pushed the score to 64-32 by the end of the third, a deficit the Falcons cut but never quite recovered from.

Nate Curtis was the offensive standout of the match as he went 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek David, who posted 14 points.

Rio Hondo Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Rio Hondo Prep's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-7. As for Duarte, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.

Rio Hondo Prep will host Polytechnic at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Duarte, they will venture away from home to face off against Azusa at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Azusa is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season.
