Basketball Game Preview: Northside - Jacksonville Monarchs vs. Ashley Screaming Eagle

The Northside - Jacksonville Monarchs will head out on the road to square off against the Ashley Screaming Eagle at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Northside - Jacksonville can't be too happy about their upcoming road matchup considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Tuesday. The contest between the Monarchs and New Hanover didn't end well, with the Monarchs falling 54-35. The Monarchs haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Northside - Jacksonville's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Madyson Wills, who posted eight points and seven boards, and Kalese Mattocks, who earned eight points.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Ashley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-46 win over Swansboro.

Ashley found their leader in sophomore Ella Rose, who shot 60% from the field to rack up 16 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of JaKicey Gardner, who scored 11 points along with five assists and three steals.

Ashley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games dating back to last season.
