Baseball Recap: Economedes Has No Trouble Against Porter

Economedes made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Porter, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Economedes Jaguars put the hurt on the Porter Cowboys with a sharp 10-0 win on Friday. Considering the Jaguars have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Rene Rios and Gilbert Rodriguez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Rios didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Rodriguez pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. At the plate, Rios scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4, while Rodriguez scored a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, Rodriguez posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Josiah Villareal was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Economedes: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-5 otherwise. Jose Perez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Economedes was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Porter only posted a batting average of .056.

The victory made it two in a row for Economedes and bumps their season record up to 3-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Porter, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Economedes didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Harlingen on the 4th. As for Porter, they have also already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Donna on the 4th.
