Basketball Game Preview: East Granby Crusaders vs. Coventry Patriots

East Granby is 2-8 against Coventry since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The East Granby Crusaders will square off against the Coventry Patriots at 6:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with East Granby sitting on three straight victories and Coventry on eight.

East Granby is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Canton by a score of 46-37.

Meanwhile, Coventry made easy work of North Branford on Friday and carried off a 76-53 win. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Coventry's win came from a few key players East Granby will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Hailey Mayo, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 14 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Danielle Wheeler, who shot 67% from the field on her way to 16 points.

Coventry smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive games.

Coventry's victory bumped their record up to 22-3. As for East Granby, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.

East Granby came up short against Coventry when the teams last played back in February, falling 39-26. Can East Granby avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
