Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Heppner). They really took it to the Stanfield Tigers for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-6 victory. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Heppner was led to victory by Caylan Proudfoot and Alakae Rodriguez. Proudfoot threw for 128 yards and four touchdowns on perfect 5-for-5 passing, while Rodriguez rushed for 67 yards and a pair of TDs on only five carries. Those four passing touchdowns gave Proudfoot a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Heppner was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 305 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 170 rushing yards in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.

Another reason for the win was Heppner's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Owen Guerra was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.

Heppner's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Stanfield, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Heppner will challenge Weston-McEwen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Stanfield, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Grant Union at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th.
