Baseball Recap: Vista Ridge Comes Up Short

Vista Ridge lost against Cheyenne Mountain back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Wolves came up short against the Red-Tailed Hawks, falling 11-3. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Vista Ridge got a good showing from Jefferson Wilkerson, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wilkerson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jacob Nelson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Nick Martinez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

Vista Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Cheyenne Mountain, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5-1.

Coming up, Vista Ridge will challenge Rampart at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.47 runs per game on average), something the Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they will square off against Discovery Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red-Tailed Hawks will need to watch out since the Thunder have now posted at least ten runs in their last five contests.
